We’ll are members at the Royal Haciendas and will be there 9/26-10/3/09. We’ve not yet received a call. Having caller id, is there a number/name that will appear so we know it will be a Advance Concierge representative calling?

Recently I was pleasantly suprised when a concierge representative called me. Since I will be traveling to Mexico soon, I was really wowed! However the pleasant conversation and offers of service and responses to my questions fell on deaf ears. Just over a week ago I still have not been contacted.
    It’s a great idea I don’t see the results.

Do you have any news about the beach restoration? The last I heard, it was supposed to start this week. Do you see any equipment or personnel on the beach?

      Dear Alan:
The dredgers and heavy equipment needed for this important beach project are apparently expected at the port of Progreso, Yucatan in the next few days and from there they will make their way . The authorities have said that work will begin in Cancun in October and be completed between December 15 – 20, however, we are still waiting for a calendar and more details from the authorities. As soon as we have the information we will be posting updates here and on the Royal Resorts website.
Initial news reports earlier this summer did say that the project would begin in September in Playa del Carmen and from there the dredgers would move to Cancun, it appears that work will now take place in Cancun first.

I hope that this helps, enjoy your stay…and the snorkeling!

With regard to the Cancun Beach Restoration project, we are waiting for the Mexican authorities to issue the calendar listing when the Jan de Nul dredging company will be working on the beach in front of specific resorts and hotels. As soon as we receive this information, we will post updates on this site and the Royal Resorts website http://www.royalresorts.com You mention that your final week is at Club Internacional de Cancun, due to its bayside location, this resort is not included in the area to be restored.

I noticed a few others have not received calls from Advance Conciere, we will be arriving at the Royal Haciendas on October 10th and have not received a call. Is this because it was an Interval exchange? We primarily need help with planning airport shuttle service. We also are celebrating our 1st anniversary so we were hoping for suggestions for our anniversary dinner.

With regard to the beach update, we still do not know when dredging will begin, the sand will be dredged from sand banks to the north of Cozumel and elsewhere in the area and transported to Cancun where it will be pumped on to the beach. The equipment needed for the project is still arriving in the area and then has to be assembled. I don’t think that work will start during your stay.

Beach work is slated to start in Cancun on October 19 but dredging will not begin immediately and certainly not in front of any of the Royal Resorts during your vacation. The project will actually begin further to the north along the Cancun shoreline. I hope this helps. Enjoy your stay!

Dear Joanne: Thank you for writing to Royal Resorts News, here are the answers to your questions. You will be able to enjoy the beach in front of The Royal Sands during your vacation regardless of the beach restoration project. The latest news on the the beach program is that the pipes have been assembled and the dredger has arrived and is anchored off the coast in front of Plaza Forum. However restoration work has not begun yet due to the fact that a conservation group in Cozumel has resorted to legal action to prevent the dredging of sand for Cancun from a sandbank to the north of Cozumel, even though the project was approved by the Mexican Environmental Agency. This has caused another delay while negotiations take place. The Beach Restoration Committee has issued a bulletin saying that the project will still go ahead and we can only wait for further news from the authorities and will post updates as soon as we have them.
The lock offs at The Royal Sands all have small refrigerators, microwave ovens and coffee makers. I hope that this helps and that you enjoy your vacation.

We are arriving at the Royal Haciendas in 10 days and we sent an e-mail about 1-1/2 weeks ago with a couple of questions and no on has responded yet. When we stayed at the Royal Haciendas in the spring the concierge contacted us a month before arrival to see if there was anything that they could help us with. This time no one has contacted us at all. How can we get a response?
