As the turtle nesting season draws to a close in the Mexican Caribbean, the number of female turtles coming ashore is dwindling and their tracks in the sand are being replaced by the tiny trails left by their offspring as they dash towards the sea. Here at The Royal Sands in Cancun, the tally of nests protected during the summer stands at 440 with 51,354 eggs. To date, our security guards, passionate turtle guardians all, have released 28,800 baby turtles, already exceeding the 2024 season total and with many more to hatch in the weeks to come.
