As of June 12, Virgin Atlantic began offering direct, twice-weekly flights to Cancun from London’s Gatwick Airport. As British Airways already operates flights from the same airport and leading travel companies such as Thomas Cook, Thompson Holidays and First Choice offer charter flights from several British cities, the number of holidaymakers from the United Kingdom, which has been growing steadily in recent years, is likely to climb even more.
Air France also announced recently that it is increasing its flight frequency to Cancun in October to four flights a week.
On July 2, AeroMexico is set to inaugurate a daily non-stop flight from JFK Airport in New York to Cancun; departure from the Big Apple is at 7:10 a.m. and from Cancun at 5:25 p.m. The Mexican carrier also announced a new direct flight to Cancun from Bogota, Colombia.
