Restaurante La Trattoria in The Royal Cancun

Training

Food & Beverage team members receive constant training in service and hospitality in addition to workshops that are specific to their particular area or related to an area of opportunity identified through analysis of the feedback received from guest surveys and online reviews. They also take classes to improve their English skills and there are always chances for team members to learn something new and broaden their knowledge.

The continued expansion of the Mexican Caribbean hotel industry and the opening of huge all-inclusive resorts in Costa Mujeres and the Riviera Maya, some with as many as 17 dining outlets, creates an insatiable demand for labor and rotation of personnel tends to be highest in the restaurant sector. The Royal Resorts training program, work environment, benefits and opportunities for professional growth help retain staff. The Food & Beverage department is also recruiting to fill vacancies. Furthermore, through the internal cross-training program, several team members from other areas of the company who decided that they would like to work in the restaurants have been able to transfer.

Technology

In an initiative to reduce wait times in the beach and pool bars, waiters will soon be using digital technology to place orders instead of having to walk to the bar or kitchen to leave them. This will save time and improve service and kitchen processes as staff will not be dealing with a rush of orders. Most importantly, it will help speed up the delivery of meals and drinks for members and guests in the beach and pool areas.

Testing has begun and the project should be up and running in six to eight weeks.
