Latest Royal Resorts turtle statistics as of September 9, 2013 are: 803 nests and 97,503 eggs protected in the corrals at The Royal Sands and The Royal Caribbean. Female turtles are still coming ashore to lay their eggs, although the number is now beginning to dwindle as the tail end of the nesting season approaches. To date, 43,454 baby turtles have been released at the resorts to begin life at sea.

    Hi Claudia:
Thank you for writing to Royal Resorts News. Yes, the baby turtles are still hatching at The Royal Sands and The Royal Caribbean. To date, we have released over 61,919 turtles this season and we have registered 819 nests, a record!
With over 30,000 eggs still to hatch, we think that you may well be lucky enough to witness a turtle release. The best thing to do is to notify the Guest Services Manager, Front Desk and Activities staff that you are interested in the turtle program so that they can let you know when a turtle release is due to take place. They occur at 8 p.m. when the sun has gone down and the birds that might prey on baby turtles have gone to roost.
I hope that this helps and that you and your family enjoy your vacation and are lucky enough to see some baby turtles.
