Cancun is gearing up to celebrate its 49th anniversary on April 20 with a series of commemorative events organized by Pioneros de Cancun, the Cancun Pioneers Association.
Comprised of members of the founding families who moved here in the early 1970s to work in the construction of Mexico’s first master-planned tourist center, the group celebrates with masses, a procession, exhibitions, a gala dinner and a mega picnic on April 21.
