Playa del Carmen has another new visitor attraction on Fifth Avenue, L’Aquarium Playa del Carmen. Located in the Corazone shopping center, this state of the art aquarium has 45 exhibits showcasing the coral reef and other marine ecosystems and more than 200 species of multicolored fish and marine creatures.
Among the species that aquarium-goers will see are angelfish, clownfish, butterfly fish, sea horses, rays and sharks.
L’Aquarium is participating in fish breeding, research and marine conservation programs with universities and government agencies in the Mexican Caribbean and other parts of the country.
L’Aquarium de Playa del Carmen is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The new Terminal 4 at Cancun International Airport is expected to open in late 2017 and will have the capacity to handle nine million additional passengers a year.
