Royal Resorts would like to share the following information received from Cancun Airport authorities.
On December 7, 2018, a drill will take place to test the airport’s Emergency Planning and response in the event of a possible accident involving a plane coming into land.
More than 300 people will be participating in the drill, including passengers, crew, airline and airport workers, firemen, paramedics and security personnel. Government agencies and local first responders such as the police, ambulance crews, the Red Cross and other emergency response teams will also be involved.
As a result of the drill, there will be a greater police presence and first responder vehicles will be active in the airport, on the access road and on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard going towards Downtown Cancun, however there is no cause for alarm.
The airport will be operating normally during the day and arriving and departing flights will not be delayed as a result of the drill.
