Grand Residences

Phase 2 of Grand Residences by Royal Resorts opens this November with 18 new luxury units. More suites and amenities, including a larger spa, two more restaurants and a shopping area, will be added in the years to come. Discover our award-winning beachfront resort to the south of Puerto Morelos, the latest in the Royal Resorts collection, and read what owners and guests are saying about it.

Setting New Standards of Luxury

Grand Residences continues to receive glowing reviews for the quality of the suites and amenities, the service and the beauty of the location. It is the recent recipient of the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2016 and was included in the Trip Advisor Travelers’ Choice Top Hotels in Mexico 2016. It is ranked No. 1 in the Puerto Morelos area on Trip Advisor, No. 4 in the Riviera Maya out of 360 properties and No. 12 in the Yucatan Peninsula out of 893 hotels.

In 2015, Grand Residences received the prestigious Travel Weekly Magellan Gold Award 2015 in the Luxury Hotels and Resorts category.

Unwind in the Perfect Sanctuary

Inspired by classic Mexican hacienda architecture, the two, three and four-bedroom residences at this award-winning private residence club are incredibly spacious and have everything owners and guests could need for an unforgettable vacation and life in paradise.

A stately living-dining area with sprawling sofas for relaxation, precious tropical hardwood furniture and a state of the art home entertainment theater leads out on to a private ocean view or beachfront terrace. Signature bedding and the finest 1,000-thread linens in the bedrooms make them a heavenly sanctuary for sleep and relaxation. A rain shower, granite countertops with twin basins, a whirlpool tub and separate WC are features of the large en suite bathrooms. The gourmet kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances including a Sub Zero fridge, Nespresso machine and a wine cooler. A separate laundry room with a washer and dryer is a welcome addition for owners with small children.

Touches of luxury are everywhere you look and include Bulgari® bath products, Jacuzzi, high-speed Wi-Fi, huge LED HD TVs, Blue Ray DVD players and iPod stations. The guest bedrooms are Jr. suites with a kitchenette, terrace and their own independent entrance, making them ideal for guests or for rental and exchange purposes.

Offering spectacular views of the Caribbean, the extensive outdoor terrace has comfy deck furniture and is perfect for al fresco living. Some of the residences even have infinity plunge pools, private gardens or roof terraces with a larger pool and deck.

Time-honored Hospitality

Unwind and indulge in the art of fine living at Grand Residences. General Manager Carlo Bicaci and his team of 350+ staff take care of every little detail to ensure that owners and guests enjoy an unparalleled vacation experience in their home away from home. From a welcome cocktail and fresh flowers and fruit in the residences to daily dried fruit snacks, cookies for the children and artisanal gifts with evening turndown service, there are gracious touches of hospitality at every turn.

At Grand Residences, owners and guests experience the best of the best, an impressive array of amenities and services worthy of a resort in the prestigious The Leading Hotels of the World® collection. As they cool off in the pool or relax in a hammock a pool concierge serves their favorite cocktail from the pool bar, returning later with popsicles, fruit or a refreshing Evian spray. They can spend the morning working out in the fitness center or on the tennis courts, go snorkeling or swimming and then soothe tired muscles with a massage in the Spa. There are daily activities, sports and games to enjoy and they’ll watch their children or grandchildren have even more fun in the kids club or teens club.

As they wind down after another day in their own beach hideaway, owners and guests can sip tea, nibble freshly baked scones and enjoy the ceremony of traditional afternoon tea in the lobby. Later, there’s time for cocktails in the bar before a gourmet dinner prepared by acclaimed French chef Yann Cozic at El Faro Grill or Flor de Canela, the signature Mexican restaurant. Theme dining nights, an extensive room service menu, the lobby café and a beach bar appropriately called Heaven offer more tempting treats and candlelit chef’s dinners on the terrace or beach can also be arranged.

Other services at the resort include a gourmet food market, business center, beauty salon, airport transport and event and wedding coordination.

A Concierge is on hand to help owners and guests have a wonderful vacation, plan an exciting sightseeing itinerary for them, and book fishing, diving and snorkeling trips, yacht charters, golf tee times and tables at local restaurants.

Owners and guests participate in unique experiences and activities during their stay such as a manager’s cocktail, wine and tequila tastings, a sunset cruise, bike trips and cooking classes, among others.

Spectacular Beach Setting

Nestled on one of the Mexican Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches, with the Mesoamerican Reef, the world’s second longest reef just offshore and a nature reserve on the doorstep, Grand Residences has a privileged location. The traditional Mexican fishing village of Puerto Morelos is just a short walk or bike ride to the north and for guests who like to combine their relaxation with fine dining, luxury shopping and nightlife, Cancun and Playa del Carmen are a 20-minute drive away. The many attractions in the Puerto Morelos area, the Riviera Maya and neighboring Yucatan are also within easy driving distance.

What owners and guests are saying about Grand Residences

Take a look at what owners and guests are saying about Grand Residences.

“First Class experience!”

The Grand Residences is a beautiful property with first-rate service. We were greeted with cucumber margaritas upon our arrival, check in was quick and our villa was magnificent. The attention to service detail was apparent everywhere here…

Lisa W

“Mind blown”

This resort is amazing! … Everyone here works really hard to exceed your expectations! Just the little touches from the pickup at the airport to the little figurines at turndown service are what set this hotel apart from others!

Catherine W

“Top notch Resort”

It was an amazing and luxurious 6 day stay. … It’s a 5 star property with top notch food and service.

Chirag P.

“The Best!”

This was our fourth visit to this resort in a year!

Suites: the suites are absolutely gorgeous: modern, spotless, luxurious. The dream kitchen has everything you can possibly need and it’s a pleasure to cook in it.

…The pools and beach areas are kept spotless and the service at both is amazing. You are treated like royalty!

MTLGAL

“Our second stay”

We stayed there for our second time this past spring. I absolutely love it here. It is a quiet and lovely family resort. It is so well maintained, the rooms are wonderful and I can’t possibly say enough about the staff. They are so welcoming and helpful and we enjoyed seeing many of them for the second time. We will be taking our entire family down there next summer for yet another stay, can’t wait!

Mmapng

“Unfair not to be honest: BEST experience EVER!”

Our expectations were high, admitted – but everything lived up to the high expectations – and a good bit more!
…We have been blessed by having some really great dining experiences all over the world – also in some of the top notch 1-2-3 Michelin star restaurants. However we have to admit that we have never before been eating this good for 9 days in a row.

Will we get back? OH yes! Amazing service, amazing food, amazing staff! 6 star experience!

Lars G.

“Amazing family vacation”

I cannot say enough about the property and people at the Grand Residence. The master suite was fantastic, the food was perfection, and the most friendly and accommodating people we have ever encountered. The locals in town were very sweet and proud of their culture.

Julia W.

“Such a Gem”

This place is the perfect place for families. Customer service is outstanding. So many wonderful people that truly care.

Leslie P.

“5 Star Everything!”

We have been fortunate to stay at the Grand Residences three times and each time just keeps getting better. The suites are bigger than my home, the service, the restaurants, the beach, everything is top of the line. You not only feel welcome from the moment you arrive but every single person gives you the impression that their whole existence is to make your stay the most pleasurable experience ever. We are not wealthy but they make you feel like a movie star. If you want to feel like royalty, stay at the Grand Residences!

Sea Turtle Season News from Cancun

Sea turtle nesting season continues in the Mexican Caribbean and here is the latest update from our turtle guardians at Royal Resorts in Cancun. As of October 13 there were 244 nests in the turtle nurseries at The Royal Sands, The Royal Caribbean and The Royal Islander with a total of 27,755 eggs.

The first 282 babies of the season hatched in mid-August at The Royal Sands and since then 15,521 hatchlings have been set free. In the weeks to come many more will make their way down the beach in a mad dash to reach the ocean.

Due to new Federal regulations in effect this year to keep human contact with turtles to a minimum, guests are no longer permitted to participate in turtle releases. Our turtle guardians wait until dusk has fallen and the frigate birds and seagulls that would swoop to catch the hatchlings have gone to roost before releasing them to scuttle across the sand towards the waves.

We will keep you posted on more turtle news from Royal Resorts and Grand Residences.

Royal Resorts Foundation Race Beneficiary Dani Moves into his New Home

Remember Dani, the “boy of glass,” the brave little child with brittle bone syndrome (Osteogenesis Imperfecta) that the Royal Resorts Foundation has been helping? In February, we held our first charity fun run in partnership with Cancun NGO Erase Una Vez un Hogar, A.C. (Once Upon a Home) to raise money to build him a house. On August 20, Dani and his family moved into their brand new home and Royal Resorts volunteer Raul Prado was one of their first visitors.

When Erase Una Vez Un Hogar volunteers first met Dani in the village of Leona Vicario, Dani and his family were staying in a borrowed house that was woefully inadequate for Dani’s needs. He was tiny, spending most of his time in his mother’s arms due to the fragility of his bones. In his short life – he is only five – he has already suffered 14 bone fractures.

Royal Resorts Foundation joined the cause to improve Dani’s quality of life and help build him a home. Thanks to the support for the race from Royal Resorts employees, members and local people and donations we received, building began and the house was soon ready to welcome the family.

Building a Home for Dani

Built with ramps for wheelchair access, Dani’s new house has two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living/dining area and a small terrace. He’ll live there with his parents, sisters and the latest member of the family, a new baby brother.

The house is 90 percent finished, but there are still things to be done such as installing lighting and ceiling fans, mattresses and the foam floor mats that Dani needs to be able to safely play on. Erase Una Vez un Hogar has launched an appeal for donations in order to obtain the furniture and appliances still needed.

Dani is happy to be in his new home and thanks everyone at Royal Resorts for their help and friendship. Raul presented this little champ, who is always ready to smile despite the challenges he faces, with his Royal Resorts Foundation race medal and t-shirt.

We thought you would like to see these photos and video of Dani and his family in their new home and we will keep you posted about how they are getting on.

Royal Resorts Foundation Helps Children with Special Needs get Physiotherapy

The Royal Resorts Foundation is helping six children to get the physiotherapy they need at the CRIT (Centro de Rehabilitacion e Inclusion Infantil Teleton) Rehabilitation Center in Cancun.

CRIT Centers provide diagnosis, physiotherapy, multisensory stimulation, occupational therapy and care for children who have motor, bone and neuromuscular diseases, autism and cancer. They help children who otherwise might not receive the vital treatment they need to improve their quality of life. Counseling, health and hygiene seminars are also available for the parents of special needs children.

Run by a Mexican charity called Fundacion Teleton, there are 23 CRIT Centers in different parts of Mexico and a Children’s Cancer Hospital, collectively attending 294,172 children. The Cancun CRIT alone receives 891 children from all over the Yucatan Peninsula and has a waiting list of 200 children. Some learn to walk, swim or receive therapy to improve their movements so that they are more self-sufficient, others begin to communicate through art or practice their language skills.

Reforesting the Riviera Maya Highway

Planting trees in the central division of Highway 307, the road from Cancun to Playa del Carmen might seem a tall order but it is happening thanks to a reforestation project spearheaded by Xcaret in which a number of Riviera Maya hotels, including Royal Resorts, are participating.

The project encompasses a 50-kilometer stretch of highway from Xoximilco Park just south of Cancun Airport to Xcaret Park. Some 22,000 native trees such as ceibas, the sacred tree of the Maya, cedar, ciricote and the pink-flowering maculis are being planted in the camellon or central division of the road. In addition to beautifying the highway and providing shade, this initiative will restore the habitat for wildlife, especially birds.

To date, Grand Residences has donated over 200 ciricote and akits trees from its on-site nursery.

Hotels can participate by donating trees, reforesting the area bordering the highway in front of their property and in the care and watering of the newly planted trees.

Xcaret has been working on reforestation projects in its parks and in Cancun and the Riviera Maya for 25 years now. The Xcaret nursery was founded in 1992 to propagate 30 native species of trees and shrubs with an output of 8,000 saplings per year. It now raises more than 200 species of native and ornamental trees and shrubs and produces more than 200,000 plants a year.

The nursery supplies the trees and plants that keep Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Xplor, Xenses and Xoximilco parks looking beautiful and have also been used to rescue green areas, parks, avenues and other public areas in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Tulum, Ciudad Chemuyil and the colonial town of Valladolid, in the neighboring state of Yucatan.
