Hurricane Delta <\/span><\/span>\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bOctober 6, 2 p.m.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hurricane Delta is currently located about <\/span><\/span>26<\/span><\/span>0 mi \/<\/span><\/span>420 km ESE of Cozumel <\/span><\/span>and is now a Category 4 storm as it moves <\/span><\/span>towards the Yucatan Peninsula<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the coast of Quintana <\/span><\/span>Roo<\/span><\/span> stretching northwards from Tulum to <\/span><\/span>Dzilam<\/span><\/span> on the Gulf coast of the Yucatan, including Cozumel. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the area from Punta <\/span><\/span>Herrero<\/span><\/span> to Tulum and from <\/span><\/span>Dzilam<\/span><\/span> to <\/span><\/span>Progreso<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Delta will <\/span><\/span>move over<\/span><\/span> the northeast coast of Quintana <\/span><\/span>Roo<\/span><\/span> late to<\/span><\/span>night<\/span><\/span> or early<\/span><\/span> Wednesday morning and into the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday afternoon. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Maximum sustained winds are <\/span><\/span>1<\/span><\/span>40<\/span><\/span> mph\/<\/span><\/span>220<\/span><\/span> km\/h. with higher gusts. Hurricane force winds extend outwards up to 25 mi\/ 35 km from the center and tropical storm force winds extend up to 90 mi\/150 km. Delta is moving towards the w<\/span><\/span>est-northwest at 16 mph\/26 km. Some additional<\/span><\/span> strengthening is <\/span><\/span>possible<\/span><\/span> and it will be a Category 4 hurricane when <\/span><\/span>makes landfall<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Delta will bring wind, rain, a storm surge of six to nine feet above normal tide levels and large waves along the coast within the hurricane warning area. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mandatory evacuation order for Cancun Hotel Zone and Puerto Morelos<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Due to the forecast track and strength of this storm, the government has ordered the mandatory evacuation of Cancun Hotel Zone. Accordingly, we <\/span><\/span>are<\/span><\/span> now <\/span><\/span>moving guests at The Royal Sands, The Royal Islander and The Royal Cancun to designated hurricane shelters in three colleges in Downtown Cancun. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An evacuation order has also been issued for hotels in Puerto Morelos and guests at Grand Residences <\/span><\/span>are being<\/span><\/span> mov<\/span><\/span>ed<\/span><\/span> to The Royal Haciendas, which is a designated hurricane shelter. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you are staying at The Royal Sands, The Royal Islander, The Royal Cancun or Grand Residences It is important that you <\/span><\/span>prepare<\/span><\/span> for evacuation now<\/span><\/span> if you haven\u2019t already done so<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> Pack a small case or backpack and a carry on bag <\/span><\/span>with <\/span><\/span>a change of clothing, <\/span><\/span>your <\/span><\/span>important documents and valuables in a plastic bag and any medication that you need to take with you, snacks, water, flashlight and other small personal belongings. You must also take one pillow and blanket per person. Make sure that your phone is charged. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Place your remaining bags in the bathtub of your bathroom and unplug all electrical appliances. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We <\/span><\/span>are now evacuating<\/span><\/span> guests<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Housekeeping service is suspended today except for towels and garbage disposal. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The sale of alcohol is also suspended in resort stores, restaurants and bars. Royal Market will close at <\/span><\/span>1:30<\/span><\/span>p.m.<\/span><\/span> in the Cancun resorts and at 3 p.m. in The Royal Haciendas. <\/span><\/span>Hacienda Sisal and Captain\u2019s Cove will be closed until further notice.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
