After a meeting with Quintana Roo Governor Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez, the leaders of the state\u2019s 17 taxi unions announced that they will not be calling for any more demonstrations or strikes as they continue to negotiate with the authorities. This means that the threat of traffic disruption or delays as a result of their industrial action has disappeared for now.<\/p>\n<p>The new State Transport Law paves the way for the entry of transportation networks such as Uber to operate in the state and the taxi unions see this as a threat to the livelihoods of their thousands of members.
