Xel-Ha Triathlon, Xel-Ha, November 18 & 19
\nA field of 1,800 athletes will compete in the Xel-Ha Triathlon and the National Triathlon Championship Mexico 2017.<\/p>\n
Fiesta de la Pur\u00edsima Concepci\u00f3n, Izamal, December 1-12
\nThe faithful gather to honor the patron saint of Izamal, the Virgin de la Concepci\u00f3n and the town celebrates with processions of the gremios or guilds and neighborhoods, masses, fireworks, flowers and the traditional vaquer\u00eda or villa fiesta featuring live music, dances and cuisine. <\/p>\n
Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, Playa del Carmen, November 30 \u2013 December 2

Cancun Night Marathon, Cancun, 2 December
\nNow in its 33rd year, the Cancun Night Marathon on December 10 attracts amateur and professional athletes from Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean, other parts of Mexico and overseas. The starting point for the Marathon, Half Marathon and a 5-kilometer Fun Run is at Malecon Tajamar on the shores of the lagoon in Downtown Cancun.
\n The course for the Marathon takes runners along Bonampak Avenue and through the Hotel Zone to El Mirador at Playa Delfines and back again to Malecon Tajamar. A mariachi band will serenade runners at the start and finish line.<\/p>\n
D\u00eda de la Virgen de Guadalupe, throughout Mexico, December 12
\nThe patron saint of Mexico is honored nationwide with serenades of \u201cLas Ma\u00f1anitas,\u201d the traditional birthday song the evening of December 11, offerings of fragrant flowers, pilgrimages and masses.<\/p>\n
Anniversary of the Founding of Merida, January 6
\nOn January 6, inhabitants of Merida, state capital of Yucatan observe the anniversary of the founding of the city in 1542 by Spanish conquistador Francisco de Montejo.
