The Tianguis is Mexico\u2019s leading Travel Fair and one of the most important events in the world tourism calendar.<br \/>\nFrom May 6 to 9, delegates for 784 companies from more than 60 countries are gathering in Canc\u00fan to meet hoteliers, travel agents and tourism representatives from the Mexican Caribbean and from the country\u2019s many other famous destinations. The event will be attended by 8,000 people and has already broken records in terms of the number of exhibitors and appointments made. It is expected to boost the number of visitors to Mexico considerably and bring new flights and travel business to Canc\u00fan and the Mexican Caribbean.<br \/>\nThe Tianguis showcases Mexico\u2019s endless tourist attractions, from spectacular shorelines, breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife to ancient cultures, colonial cities, cuisine, fiestas, rich traditions and legendary hospitality. All its 32 states are represented and the offering of natural, historical and cultural attractions on display is spectacular, showing that Mexico is a world of unforgettable adventures with something for everyone.<br \/>\nThe Tianguis meetings are taking place at the Lakam Business Center en route to Puerto Morelos and Xcaret, Moon Palace Arena, Canc\u00fan, Riviera Maya, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel and Bacalar among others are also hosting Tianguis events.<br \/>\nRoyal Resorts and Grand Residences are proud to be participating in the Tianguis. Grand Residences is hosting a cocktail on May 8 for tour operators and travel agents, Mexican tourism representatives and members of the press.<br \/>\nThe Tianguis also coincides with the 40th anniversary of FONATUR, the Federal agency that developed Canc\u00fan, Mexico\u2019s first master-planned resort, and still oversees the landscaping and infrastructure. During his Canc\u00fan visit, President Pena Nieto will also inaugurate Malec\u00f3n Tajamar, a lagoonside boulevard, which will be additional attraction for visitors and local people alike.<br \/>\nWelcome to all travel industry representatives attending the Tianguis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitor Numbers to Mexico Increasing<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Bank of Mexico reported that the country welcomed 4.5 million international visitors in January and February, a 15.3 percent increase on the same period in 2013.<br \/>\nIn Canc\u00fan and the Riviera Maya, the gateway to Mexico, visitor numbers are also up. The latest study published by the Canc\u00fan Hotel Association reports 753,157 visitors in the first two months of the year, 9.4 percent more than the same period last year. More than four million tourists visited Canc\u00fan in 2013, 1.2 million more than in 2012 and hotel occupancy registered from January to September 2013 was up 13.4 percent on 2012.<br \/>\nOnline travel agency Orbitz has reported that Canc\u00fan is the number one summer destination requested by its US customers in 2014.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More Flights<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the topics being discussed during the Tianguis is air travel and the need for new international flights to Canc\u00fan, Mexico City and other major destinations and also more domestic flights linking the many regions of this vast country to enable visitors to explore further. Southeast Mexico would benefit from new air routes and improved highways linking its many attractions so that more tourists could discover the wonders of the Maya World.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discover Mexico at Malec\u00f3n Tajamar<\/strong><br \/>\nCatch a glimpse of the many colors and traditions of Mexico at Malec\u00f3n Tajamar, Canc\u00fan\u2019s new lagoonside boulevard on May 7 and 8.
