One of the most spectacular experiences I have ever lived, albeit feeling really small, has been to<a title=\"Whale Shark Adventure \" href=\"https:\/\/www.thomasmoretravel.com\/\"> swim with whale sharks.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You may have heard this story a <em>million<\/em> times. They are <strong>the biggest fish<\/strong> in the ocean, they are <strong>amazing gentle giants<\/strong>, they <strong>feed on plankton<\/strong> and well, yes, all these things are true. But what I really want you to know is that when you are swimming with these <em>enormous<\/em> beasts, <strong>side by side<\/strong>, the way you feel is: <em>small<\/em>. The first time I ever jumped in the water with these beautiful sea creatures I found myself in front of a <em>huge<\/em> open mouth lapping up plankton. I <i>knew<\/i> it wasn\u2019t going to eat me, I <i>knew<\/i> it only fed on plankton, but I also felt <strong>one of the most intense<\/strong> adrenaline rushes I have ever felt as a <strong>fish the size of a bus<\/strong> swam past.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Swimming with whale sharks<\/strong> is an <em>amazing<\/em>, <em>relaxing<\/em> and <em>exciting adventure<\/em>, all rolled into one. The downside is you cannot enjoy it all year long. <strong>Whale Shark season<\/strong> lasts from <strong>mid-May to mid-September<\/strong> and during this time hundreds of them gather in the northern waters of the Mexican Caribbean to feed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whale sharks<\/strong> are protected by Mexican law and several years ago, the Federal government declared part of their feeding grounds a protected area. If you want to <strong>swim with these gentle giants<\/strong> you have to take an eco trip on an authorized boat.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that often concerns our visitors is that from <strong>May to September<\/strong> it <em>may rain<\/em> a bit. No need to worry; our most recent reports indicate that yesterday \u2014a somewhat rainy day\u2014 up to <strong>30 whale sharks<\/strong> were spotted and some boats even spotted <strong>a few manta rays<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If you are coming down to <strong>Cancun or the Riviera Maya<\/strong> this summer, call your <em>Thomas More Travel<\/em> agent and book a trip to see these <strong>marvelous animals<\/strong>.
