The date selected is a reference to <strong>December 21, 2012<\/strong>, the day that one <em>b\u2019aktun<\/em> or cycle in the ancient calendar draws to a close and<strong> a new era begins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today\u2019s event pays tribute to <strong>Mayan art<\/strong> with a <strong>Painting your own Mayan Calendar activity at 11 a.m.<\/strong> and <strong>Painting Mayan Ceramics<\/strong> at noon, both on the terrace in Phase I. There is a charge for the Mayan Ceramics craft workshop and <strong>all proceeds go to the <a title=\"foundations mexico | royal resorts foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/GDQUPj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Resorts Foundation<\/a><\/strong> to <strong>support cancer awareness<\/strong>, <strong>scholarships for children from low-income households<\/strong>, <strong>conservation of the Mayan jungle<\/strong> and the <strong>employee relief fund<\/strong> which offers aid in times of serious illness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At<strong> 1:30 p.m.<\/strong>, guests and their children will join gardeners and help them <strong>plant a tree in Phase II<\/strong> of the resort as a symbolic gesture, <strong>March 21 is also World Reforestation Day<\/strong>. The fig tree Ficus benjamina will offer welcome shade in the years to come.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event draws to a close on the <strong>beach at 6 p.m. with a bonfire ceremony (synthetic fire is used in order to protect the environment).<\/strong> Guests and staff are asked to spend a moment in reflection seeking harmony with nature in such a beautiful setting, and then write down their thoughts and prayers for the future, placing them in a chest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other activities scheduled to take place on the twenty-first of the month throughout the year include <strong>an exhibition of Mayan art in April,<\/strong> a <strong>Mayan market in May<\/strong> and a <strong>Mayan treasure hunt in June.<\/strong> Additional events will be announced.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[99],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-52210","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.3.1 -
