The <strong>City Festival is in full flow in Merida <\/strong>and the <strong>Puerto Morelos Music Festival<\/strong> will take place from <strong>January 26-28 and February 2-4<\/strong>. All concerts are <strong>free<\/strong> and include gypsy and Celtic, jazz, rock, reggae, pop, blues, salsa, Mayan and Mexican music performed by local and International artists. Playa del Carmen is hosting a <strong>Tequila Festival, January 26-29, from 4 to 10 p.m.<\/strong> Learn more about <strong>Mexico\u2019s national drink<\/strong>, one of the world\u2019s favorite tipples, and of course, savor some of the connoisseur tequilas being presented by participating producers.<\/p>\n<p><!--\n\n[caption id=\"attachment_9351\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"590\"]<a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalresortsnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/shutterstock_93185299.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9351\" title=\"tequila mexico | royal resorts\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalresortsnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/shutterstock_93185299.jpg\" alt=\"tequila mexico | royal resorts\" width=\"590\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a> Agave plantation in Mexico[\/caption]\n\n--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An exhibition showcases the tequila production process, from the harvest of the blue agave, the cooking of the pineapple-like root, which is then crushed to extract its sugary juice, and finally distillation and storage in oak barrels. There will be music and dance performances during the festival and the musicians closely associated with tequila and the traditional bars known as cantinas, the mariachis, will also take to the stage. <strong>In 2011, mariachi music and culture joined the Tequila region of Jalisco on the UNESCO World Heritage list.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--\n\n[caption id=\"attachment_9355\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"450\"]<a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalresortsnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/shutterstock_92916586.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9355\" title=\"tequila mexico | royal resorts\" src=\"http:\/\/www.royalresortsnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/shutterstock_92916586.jpg\" alt=\"tequila mexico | royal resorts\" width=\"450\" height=\"531\" \/><\/a> Cooked Agave roots[\/caption]\n\n--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There will be 26 stands representing some of Mexico\u2019s best-known tequilas and experts will be on hand to tell visitors more about tequila, its history and to explain the difference between blanco, reposado and a\u00f1ejado. They will also recommend tequilas for specific food pairings and indeed finger food will be available from local restaurants participating in the festival.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A variety of tequilas will be on sale in the Tequila Shopping Area.
