{"id":51761,"date":"2010-10-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-27T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/royalresorts.com\/blog\/royal-resorts-presents-cancun-underwater-sculpture-park\/"},"modified":"2021-11-29T20:59:03","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T20:59:03","slug":"royal-resorts-presents-cancun-underwater-sculpture-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.royalresorts.com\/blog\/cancun\/royal-resorts-presents-cancun-underwater-sculpture-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Royal Resorts presents: Cancun Underwater Sculpture Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Around <strong>300 cement sculptures<\/strong> are now being submerged and installed at four different sites in the <strong>Cancun-Isla Mujeres Marine Park <\/strong>to form part of the eagerly awaited <strong>Canc\u00fan Underwater Sculpture Museum<\/strong>.\u00a0 Snorkelers and divers will be able to admire the figures by <strong>British artist Jason de Caires Taylor<\/strong> at Punta Nizuc, and Manchones Reef, La Carbonera and Aristos in the bay between <strong>Isla Mujeres<\/strong> and <strong>Canc\u00fan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When complete, <strong>the museum will be the largest of its kind in the world and will have more than 400 sculptures.<\/strong> Apart from their artistic appeal, <strong>the figures will provide an artificial habitat for reef dwellers such as corals, sponges and algae to colonize, <\/strong>in time attracting other creatures such as small fish and crustaceans.
