Every city needs parks and gardens and Canc\u00fan will soon have another green space for the enjoyment of local people and visitors alike. An area of 107 hectares on the shores of Nichupte Lagoon has been designated as the location of the new EcoParque, the first phase of which is due to open later this year.

\nLocated next to the boardwalk known as Malec\u00f3n Tajamar Canc\u00fan and behind several universities and schools on Bonampak Avenue, the area comprises large swathes of mangroves that are a haven for wildlife and are protected by law, palm groves, low-growth jungle and savanna. Park-goers will have the chance to reconnect with nature, go bird watching, enjoy a stroll with family and friends and keep fit.

\nWork on the park project is expected to begin soon and the design will feature a bike path, walking and jogging trails, an outdoor gym and yoga area, gardens, a children\u2019s playground, picnic facilities, an open-air auditorium, a living mangrove museum and even a rowing club. Admission will be free and access will be via Malec\u00f3n Tajamar Canc\u00fan.
