Owning vs. Renting

Renting such a magnificent yacht is not only very difficult (few if any marinas even offer the service), but also rent charges are between $300 and $400 per HOUR when they are available (and in most cases you are renting an older vessel).

Membership of one or more days in the Performance Yacht Charter Club means selecting the day you wish to use the vessel and costs that are lower than renting in today’s dollars.

Q: How long does a Membership last?
A: For 10 years.
Q: How many times can I use the yacht?
A: Memberships start from one day per year, there is no upper limit.
Q: For how many hours can I enjoy my yacht?
A: The yacht and crew are yours during the day of your Membership, for eight hours of
use, per day of Membership, starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Additional hours of
use may be purchased at a rate of $50 per half hour; a maximum of two additional hours may be purchased per boat day.
Q: What can I do and where can I go?
A: Members can choose from a “menu” of options for enjoying their yacht, including a day trip to Isla Mujeres or a cruise around Cancún with time for swimming, snorkeling or relaxation. The captain commands the boat but you decide your itinerary and schedule.
The availability of some options may depend on the weather and sea conditions.
Q: Can I spend the night on one of the yachts?
A: No. Your Membership runs for a day. The nights are needed for cleaning, refueling, planned maintenance and the crew needs to rest for the next day’s adventure!
Q. If my plans change, can I change the day that I use my yacht charter?
A. Yes, you may request to change the day and even the week of your charter. This is on a space available basis and a nominal administration fee of $25 will be charged per confirmation.
Q. What happens if I want to use additional days?
A. This program is very flexible. Based on availability, you may use days from future years in advance, a program called accelerated usage. The same administrative charge applies of $25 per confirmation. As a PYCC Member you may also rent additional days of use at a discounted rate.
Q: How many guests can I bring on board?
A: Maximum passenger capacity is six (plus two crew members). You can even share your Membership with another family.
Q: What amenities does the yacht have?
A: All yachts have full navigational aids and safety equipment, a dinghy, ample space above and below decks, air-conditioned cabin, kitchenette, bathroom, sound system, even a flat-screen TV and DVD player!
Q: How is my yacht maintained?
A: The yacht is sold only 48 weeks a year, leaving the remainder of the time and nights for planned maintenance and cleaning so that your vessel is kept in tiptop condition.
Q. What about daily maintenance and operation fees?
A: Fees will be $535 and will cover crew, fuel, scheduled maintenance, normal wear and tear, engines services, preventive and periodic maintenance, management and operations costs. Your yacht will also have ice, drinking water, complimentary sodas, beers and ceviche. The only additional costs will be any additional food and beverage services that you desire and the tips you choose to leave.
Q: How do I know my yacht will be well maintained?
A: As the largest Sea Ray distributor in Mexico, Performance Boats, together with Brunswick’s support, will provide the highest levels of maintenance
Q: Where will I board my yacht?
A: At the nearest marina / dock to your Resort.
Q: What qualifications will Captains have?
A: All captains will be experienced licensed yacht-masters with specific Sea Ray

A: You may lend it to a friend or rent it.
Q: Can I resell my Membership?
A: Yes. This can be handled through the Membership Company – a commission is charged.
Q: What happens if there is bad weather on my chosen day?
A: Cancun enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine per year and only averages 58 days* of precipitation per year, so your chances of bad weather are low. If the port is closed due to bad weather, and another unsold Performance Yacht Charter Club day is not available for you, you will be refunded the Operating and Maintenance fees for that day.
